We have received feedback from a number of our Safety customers that permit applicants do not close their Permits to Work (PTWs) once the work has been done and the PTW has expired. This creates issues for safety managers who waste time chasing down users to close out their permits.

With this in mind, we are implementing a new feature for Safety Permits to Work to prevent new PTWs from being created if the previous PTW is not closed out.

Once the new feature is rolled out, the following will be the behaviour of the PTW function:

  • Once a PTW expires, the user will have 3 days to close the PTW.

  • Every time they apply for a PTW, they will be presented with a pop-up informing them that they have open PTWs of that type.

  • If they do not close the expired PTWs, they will be prevented from applying for further PTWs of that type.

The new feature to restrict the creation of new PTWs, if there are open PTWs, will go into effect on February 6, 2020.
